My client wanted a warm, earthy and cozy great room using her current espresso sofa with a chaise. The room is very large and she also has two very active dogs. She loves natural recycled materials focusing on nature and a meditative and spiritual mood.
Painting the walls a soft green was a starting point and then finding an indoor/outdoor area rug to cover the floor and add a warmer feeling in earth tones works beautifully. Finding comfortable chairs and an ottoman in a Cappuccino suede placed across from the sectional and pulling the sectional away from the wall now works for easy conversations. A coffee table top made from recycled woods in a geometric pattern with an industrial frame makes an understated and interesting accent to the sofa. On one side of the sofa, a Native American motif lamp sits on a table that has a multi layered wood apron. A round table made from recycled wood in a dark brown sits next to the chaise. A wrought iron angular floor lamp with an open weave shade complements the balance of light for sitting and reading. Bamboo shades that are unlined to let the light shine through but offer privacy at night are another natural element that enhance this wonderful room.
